La idea me fascina, ¿es realmente necesario utilizar tantos envases?, que tal si volvemos a lo básico y nos olvidamos de todo el embalaje para reducir el desperdicio mediante la compra de productos sin envases.
Aunque el reciclaje y esfuerzos más eficientes por tratar los residuos de los envases han hecho mella en la cantidad de basura que se va a los vertederos, todavía producimos mucha basura y más de la que es sostenible. ¿Y qué si pudiéramos eliminar los residuos producidos por envases de alimentos incluso antes de ponerlos en nuestro carrito de la compra? Esa es la idea detrás de Unverpackt original, un nuevo concepto de supermercado sin desperdicios en Alemania, que lleva las cosas a un territorio de “cero residuos” al alentar a los consumidores usar contenedores reutilizables.
Esta es la idea de dos emprendedoras alemanas Sara Wolf y Milena Glimbovski. Frustradas por el exceso de embalaje y desperdicio que vieron en la industria minorista de alimentos, las jóvenes decidieron poner manos a la obra y lanzaron una campaña en el sitio de Crowdfunding Startnext para reunir donaciones de dinero para materializar la idea, y excedió todas las expectativas doblando sus metas de 45000 euros. Así fue como abrieron Original Unverpackt, su primera tienda en Berlín y una segunda la seguirá pronto.
¿Cómo funciona el primer supermercado sin desperdicios del mundo ?
En lugar de tener un envase para cada producto, se pide a los compradores que lleven sus propios recipientes para rellenarlos a granel. También tienen una estación eléctrica para el llenado de bebidas. Por otro lado, el producto se muestra tal como es, sin escondites o disfraces y la información nutricional y de origen está claramente identificada con una etiqueta.
Este concepto no solo está diseñado para reducir la contaminación de los envases, sino también de los residuos alimenticios. Ya que de este modo, los compradores pueden comprar más inteligentemente y solo adquirir lo que realmente necesitan.
Un modelo de negocio como éste también podría permitir un mayor control al pedir solo cantidades realistas basadas en la demanda.
Además el diseño minimalista de un concepto de supermercado sin desperdicios original expresa una imagen moderna, artística y de comida de alta gama, aunque no necesariamente todos los productos disponibles serán orgánicos.
La idea del creador es la que sus tiendas sean un recurso para los compradores con cualquier presupuesto, donde se centraran en promover productos locales y los que vengan con poco embalaje.
Mientras que el concepto es parecido al de las cooperativas alimenticias, Original Unverpackt funcionará a gran escalara y no venderá absolutamente ningún envoltorio para un solo uso o bienes pre embalados. Como ellas dicen: “No encontrarás un sinfín de marcas para cada producto porque uno, cuando es el correcto, es suficiente”.
Donde sea posible, los productos se consiguen localmente para reducir las millas de alimentos y se ofrecen productos convencionales de menor precio y productos orgánicos también.

If Iran can strike Israel with missiles, then this canal will do nothing to open the strait. You'd be better off building rail lines on land through Iraq or Saudi Arabia. The rails are easier to repair after missile attacks.
However, if they tell investors that they'll use AI to secure it, they'll be able to raise $3 or $4 Trillion in a couple of weeks!
Likely pipelines would be the preferred short/mid-term solution.
